Arab League Supports UK Ban on Settlement Goods Trade

Cairo: The Arab League has expressed support for the United Kingdom's decision to ban trade in goods produced in settlements, a move also being considered by 12 other countries. Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy highlighted this development as a significant step towards addressing the illegal Israeli settlement system. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Fahmy emphasized in a statement on Wednesday that these measures, outlined in a clear statement by the 12 countries, aim to hold accountable those responsible for the illegal settlements and to counteract the actions of the occupation government. He emphasized that such steps are crucial in addressing the evolving situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, including the apartheid regime and settler violence against Palestinian civilians. Fahmy urged nations that uphold international law and the two-state solution as the path to resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict to align with the UK's stance and the position taken by the 12 countries . He underscored that imposing practical measures against the settlement system would compel the occupation to reconsider its unlawful activities, following years of unaccountability.
