Palestinian Prisoner’s Society: Israeli Forces Detain at Least 30 Palestinians in West Bank

Hebron: Israeli occupation forces detained at least 30 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, with the detentions concentrated mainly in the governorates of Hebron, Nablus, Qalqilya, and Tulkarm, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS). Among those detained was Palestinian journalist Abdul Rahman Hassan from Bethlehem.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, PPS said the latest campaign comes amid an ongoing escalation in Israeli detention campaigns targeting Palestinians from various sectors of society. The raids were frequently accompanied by searches and ransacking of homes, the detention of residents, and field interrogations.

PPS said escalating detention campaigns constitute one of the principal tools used by the occupation to impose control and collective punishment on Palestinians, through daily raids and mass detentions accompanied by threats, intimidation, and abuse targeting detainees and their families.

The latest detentions have also coincided with an escalation in attacks by Israeli colonists against Palestinians and their property, particularly in areas subjected to repeated military incursions and colonist attacks, according to PPS. The organization said the simultaneous escalation of detentions and colonist violence forms part of an integrated system targeting Palestinians and seeking to impose further control while pushing communities to live under persistent threats, violence, and intimidation.
