Gaza: The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced the commencement of online voter registration for new voters via its official website. The initiative invites all eligible citizens aged 17 and above to register on the voters' roll in preparation for the forthcoming legislative elections.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the commission emphasized that being listed on the voters' roll is crucial for anyone wishing to participate in the legislative elections. The CEC noted the online registration process is designed to be user-friendly, allowing completion in just a few minutes.
The commission clarified that the online registration is exclusively available to citizens not previously registered. For those needing to update personal details, change residences, or transfer polling stations, in-person submission is required at designated voter registration centers. These centers will be operational across all cities, towns, and refugee camps in the West Bank governorates from August 15 to 19.
The CEC reiterated that registration is mandatory for participating in the elections, either as a voter or a candidate. For Palestinians residing in the Gaza Strip and occupied Jerusalem, the CEC assured that their electoral rights are intact and do not require prior registration. Further details on the mechanisms and procedures for their participation will be released in due course.
