Amman: Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the escalating settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, highlighting recent attacks on several villages. These incidents include the burning of homes, agricultural lands, and vehicles, as well as the uprooting of numerous trees and assaults on Palestinians.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the Ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Majali, expressed Jordan's absolute rejection of these attacks. He characterized them as an extension of the Israeli government's extremist policies and illegal actions in the occupied West Bank, which contribute to extremism and violence against the Palestinian people. Majali emphasized that these actions undermine the prospects of achieving peace through a two-state solution.
Majali held Israel, as the occupying power, accountable for the attacks and urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities. He called for international pressure on Israel to halt settler attacks and hold perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
Furthermore, he reiterated the call for the recognition of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He stressed that this is the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
