Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces detained at least 25 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Among those detained were five women from the governorates of Tubas, Tulkarm, Hebron, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem, as well as 15 workers from the Gaza Strip who were apprehended in the Qalqilya governorate.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) reported that the detentions are part of a broader intensification of campaigns involving field interrogations. These actions have been increasing since the start of the genocide, accompanied by heightened targeting of Palestinians amid colonist attacks. The PPS emphasized that such practices are part of a systematic policy aiming at different segments of Palestinian society, constituting collective punishment and retaliatory measures.
The society also highlighted a notable increase in the targeting of women through these detention campaigns. This includes holding women as hostages, conducting nighttime home raids, subjecting them to severe interrogation techniques, and increasing detentions under accusations of "incitement" on social media platforms. The PPS views this as a dangerous escalation, using the detention of women as a tool for pressure and collective punishment.
Furthermore, the PPS reported that Israeli occupation authorities persist in daily detention campaigns across the occupied West Bank, with the number of detentions since the start of the genocide surpassing 24,000. This escalation reflects a continued expansion of detention and field interrogation policies, targeting various groups within Palestinian society, including women, children, and formerly detained individuals.
