Vice President Engages with Prisoners’ Institutions on Palestinian Detainees’ Plight

Gaza: Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh met today with a delegation from the Higher Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Detainees and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club to discuss the latest political developments and the evolving situation regarding Palestinian detainees in the occupation's prisons. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this meeting included Amin Shuman, President of the Higher Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Detainees, and Abdullah Al-Zagari, President of the Prisoners' Club, along with representatives from national action factions and institutions focused on prisoners and detainees. The vice president received a detailed briefing on the conditions faced by detainees in the occupation's detention camps. The briefing highlighted ongoing violations and arbitrary measures inflicted upon them, such as policies of retribution, medical neglect, and isolation, which contravene international law and international humanitarian law. The delegation emphasized th e efforts made by the Commission and the Prisoners' Club to monitor the detainees' conditions and stressed the need to unify national and international efforts to defend their rights. They called for increased pressure on the occupation to cease its violations against Palestinian detainees.
