Palestinian Journalists Highlight Daily Struggle for Press Freedom Amid Israeli Violations

Ramallah: The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate declared on Sunday that press freedom in Palestine is not merely a slogan but a daily battle against continuous Israeli violations and assaults.

According to Palestine news and Information Agency - WAFA, the syndicate issued a statement on World Press Freedom Day, emphasizing its commitment to national and professional responsibilities. The statement highlighted the sacrifices made by Palestinian journalists, who have endured significant hardships while defending the truth under extraordinary conditions. These journalists face challenges where both their words and images are targeted, and they are pursued simply for fulfilling their journalistic duties.

The syndicate further elaborated on the increasing incidents of direct targeting, coverage restrictions, detentions, and even killings that journalists encounter while performing their work. It called upon the international community and human rights organizations to assume legal and moral responsibility in ensuring the protection of Palestinian journalists, holding those accountable for violations, and putting an end to impunity.

The statement concluded by reaffirming that Palestinian journalism will continue to be a voice of truth, asserting that the will to live and report is stronger than any attempts at repression and silencing.
