President Abbas Receives Call from Indonesian President to Discuss Regional Developments

Ramallah: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the region, strengthening bilateral relations, and issues of common interest.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas praised Indonesia's steadfast and supportive stance toward Palestine and its people, expressing gratitude for the aid provided by both the government and the people to the Gaza Strip throughout the ongoing war. The President conveyed his appreciation for Indonesia's role in promoting stability and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination between Palestine and Indonesia.

President Abbas highlighted the significance of consolidating the ceasefire and halting Israeli violations targeting Palestinian civilians. Despite the challenging circumstances, he stressed the need to implement the second phase of the UN Security Council resolution, which calls for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and adherence to the principle of one state, one law, and one legitimate armed force.

The President warned of the dangerous situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, citing Israeli policies of settlement expansion, land annexation, and the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues as major concerns. He emphasized the gravity of the Israeli occupation authorities' closure of significant religious sites and described plans for the 'Greater Israel' project as a regional and global threat, urging an international stance to counter these actions.

In advocating for a comprehensive international conference, President Abbas called for efforts to achieve peace, stability, and security in the region, highlighting the need to end the occupation and enable Palestinian freedom and independence. He also expressed solidarity with Gulf States, Jordan, and Lebanon in the face of external aggressions and violations.

Indonesian President Subianto, in response, reaffirmed Indonesia's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to providing humanitarian aid and scholarships. He assured continued coordination with Palestine in the post-war period to fulfill recovery and reconstruction commitments in the Gaza Strip.
