Vice President Al-Sheikh and Egyptian FM Discuss Developments in Palestinian Territory

Ramallah: Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh and Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed over the phone developments in the Palestinian Territory, specifically concerning the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the conversation between Vice President Al-Sheikh and Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdelatty centered on the implications of the current developments for security and stability in the occupied Palestinian territory. This includes the escalating violence by colonists in the West Bank. Al-Sheikh expressed appreciation for Egypt's support of the Palestinian cause and emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation in the coming period.

The Egyptian diplomat condemned the increase in colonist attacks against Palestinian civilians and their property, stating that such acts violate international law and undermine peace prospects. He stressed the need for the full implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan, which includes deploying an international stabilization force and allowing the Gaza Management Committee to begin its work in the Strip. This move is seen as essential for enabling the Palestinian Authority to fully assume its responsibilities.

Furthermore, the Egyptian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of maintaining territorial unity between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He spoke against displacement schemes that threaten the Palestinian cause, viewing this unity as crucial to the two-state solution.

Both parties emphasized the necessity of not losing focus on daily violations in Gaza and the West Bank due to the current regional and international attention on developments related to Iran. They called for heightened international efforts to stop escalation, protect civilians, promote dialogue, and create conditions conducive to resuming the political process toward a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause.
