PBBM, J.P. Morgan Tackle Global Economy, AI Readiness

New york: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday (New York time) announced that he met with senior leaders of the financial services firm J.P. Morgan to discuss economic cooperation and key global developments impacting international financial markets.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos and J.P. Morgan's senior executives convened on Monday on the sidelines of his United Nations engagements. In a conversation with reporters at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel in New York, United States, Marcos disclosed that the meeting concentrated on the current state of the global economy, especially in light of escalating geopolitical tensions and market uncertainties.

Marcos highlighted that the dialogue focused on how ongoing geopolitical developments are affecting global oil prices and the broader economic implications for both advanced and emerging economies. He stated, "The conversation covered heightened geopolitical tensions and their impact on global oil prices, as well as the broader implications for both advanced and emerging nations."

Furthermore, Marcos mentioned that he and J.P. Morgan senior executives emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation and open communication in addressing the challenges posed by shifting global economic conditions. He noted that J.P. Morgan officials provided insights on the rapid advancements in AI and the increasing necessity for governments and institutions to prepare for AI's transformative effects on economics, industry, and labor markets.

Marcos stressed that technological readiness, cybersecurity resilience, and workforce upskilling are critical factors for countries aiming to remain competitive in a rapidly changing global environment.
