Minister Assaf Honored by Arab League for Palestinian Media Achievements

Cairo: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Arab information ministers honored Palestinian Minister Ahmed Assaf, General Supervisor of Official Palestinian Media, for the achievements of the official Palestinian media and his contributions to enhancing joint Arab action, particularly in the media field. The recognition was part of the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers at the Arab League headquarters, chaired by Syria.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the event was attended by notable figures including Kuwait's Minister of Information and Culture and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Baddah Al-Mutairi, Syria's Minister of Information, Hamza Al-Mustafa, and the League's Assistant Secretary-General for Media Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Khattabi. Assaf emphasized that efforts will persist to advance the Palestinian media message and enhance its influence on public opinion.

Assaf highlighted that the challenges faced by Palestinian journalists, such as violations and intimidation, are part of a systematic policy that began with the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Despite these challenges, including killings, detentions, attacks on media premises, and restrictions on work, Assaf asserted that Palestinian journalists remain steadfast in their commitment to fulfilling their national duty toward their people and cause.
