Ramallah: The Government Operations Room is currently reviewing a relief and early recovery plan developed by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) aimed at addressing the deteriorating statistical infrastructure in Gaza. The ongoing conflict has led to a near-total collapse of the system, causing the suspension of vital field surveys within the region. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the PCBS has put forward a comprehensive statistical plan for 2026. This plan includes conducting a mini-census, labor force surveys, and assessments of well-being to ensure that crucial data collection and analysis can continue despite the challenges faced. The collapse of statistical systems has raised significant concerns about the continuity of data production, which is essential for planning and policy-making. Urgent interventions are being implemented to address these issues. These measures aim to stabilize the situation and ensure that the statistical operations in Gaza can resum e and function effectively. The plan's review by the Government Operations Room is a critical step in mobilizing resources and support for the recovery of Gaza's statistical capabilities, ensuring that accurate data can be used to guide relief and development efforts in the region.
