Ramallah: Five Palestinian civilians on Tuesday evening sustained injuries in a colonist attack in al-Mughayyir village, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to a municipal source.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Amin Aby Alya, head of the Village Council, reported that Israeli colonists, protected by the occupation forces, attacked a public park in the southeastern part of the village. The colonists opened fire at civilians, resulting in injuries to five individuals.
Amin Aby Alya noted that one of the injured suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was in critical condition. The incident highlights the ongoing violence faced by Palestinians in the region.
The violence perpetrated by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a routine occurrence in the West Bank. Such acts are rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The range of violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are considered illegal under international law.
