UNRWA Warns of Imminent Drought and Disease in Gaza Due to Fuel Shortage.

Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has raised alarms over the looming threat of drought and disease in Gaza, attributing it to the critical shortage of fuel needed to operate water wells. This development comes as the northern areas of the Strip endure heightened risks amidst ongoing conflict that has lasted for approximately 50 days. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA expressed concerns through a post on X, highlighting the dire situation faced by Gaza's residents. The post stated, "People in Gaza face a constant risk of drought and disease as a result of the water wells stopping working due to the lack of fuel that prevents them from working." The agency further elaborated on the situation in the besieged northern region of Gaza, where approximately 70,000 individuals are grappling with the challenge of accessing clean water. It emphasized that this fundamental human right remains inaccessible to many in the region, exacerbating th e humanitarian crisis.
