Gaza: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom on Thursday reaffirmed their support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and condemned the Israeli seizure of the agency's facilities in occupied East Jerusalem.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the 13 members of the UNRWA Advisory Commission issued a joint statement strongly condemning the unlawful entry into UNRWA's Kalandia Training Center by Israeli occupation forces and the seizure of UNRWA installations in East Jerusalem on August 25.
The diplomatic representations emphasized that United Nations premises are protected under the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations and international law, and must be respected.
They urged immediate and full compliance with Israel's obligations toward the United Nations, allowing UNRWA to carry out its mandated activities without interference.
The countries and the European Union further called on Israel to honor its international obligations and immediately halt all disruptions to UNRWA's activities and operations.
