New York:WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized that the Gaza Strip is still facing a humanitarian and public health emergency, nearly a year after the ceasefire.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency, Ghebreyesus, speaking at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, highlighted the severe strain on the health system in Gaza. He noted that the humanitarian and health needs in the region remain significant.
The Director-General underscored the critical importance of ensuring rapid, sustained, and unhindered humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip. He called for the delivery of medical supplies and equipment to those in need, the rehabilitation of health facilities, the restoration of patient referral pathways, and the expansion of medical evacuations.
