Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) representative for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Rik Peeperkorn, announced plans to bring in an unspecified number of field hospitals to support Gaza’s devastated health sector.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Peeperkorn explained in a press statement issued in Geneva that, under the terms of the ceasefire agreement, aid deliveries to Gaza could be significantly increased. Approximately 600 trucks are expected to enter the Strip daily, which could help alleviate the critical health situation.
Peeperkorn expressed confidence that increasing aid is highly feasible, especially with the potential opening of additional border crossings. The WHO’s initiative aims to address urgent medical needs in Gaza, where health infrastructure has been severely impacted due to the 15-month long Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
