Gaza city: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) issued a warning today that an intensified military operation in Gaza City could result in the forced displacement of about one million people.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA highlighted in a post on X that the area is already experiencing famine, and any further military escalation would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, pushing more individuals towards catastrophe.
Members of the UN Security Council, excluding the United States, released a joint statement on Wednesday urging an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the need for a significant increase in aid delivery throughout the region and called for Israel, as the occupying power, to lift all restrictions on the delivery of assistance without delay.
The Security Council members also urged Israel to reverse its decision to seize Gaza City, stating that such actions would deteriorate the already dire humanitarian situation and endanger civilian lives.
