Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a stern warning regarding the dire situation in the Gaza Strip, where hunger has now reached critical levels. The agency is calling for an immediate ceasefire to address the escalating humanitarian crisis. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA released a brief statement on X highlighting the severity of the situation, stating that people in Gaza are desperately searching for food amid garbage that has not been collected for weeks. The onset of winter is further complicating the situation, making survival increasingly difficult without urgent humanitarian assistance. The agency emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire to facilitate the delivery of aid. Local health authorities have reported a significant rise in casualties due to ongoing hostilities since October 7, 2023, with 44,249 fatalities and an additional 104,746 individuals injured. Women and children constitute the majority of the victims. The people of Gaza are experiencing severe food shortages, attributed to restrictions on humanitarian aid imposed by the occupation, which has led to a systematic starvation policy within the region.
