Gaza: Rats have been biting children as they sleep in their tents in the Gaza Strip, according to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA highlighted the dire situation on Thursday, sharing on X that children face nightly rat bites in the overcrowded tented settlements. The agency emphasized the urgent need for more resources, including tents, insecticides, and medications, to address the escalating public health concern.
The agency pointed out that the already vulnerable population of Gaza is facing increased risks due to displacement, overcrowding, lack of clean water, and inadequate sanitation systems. UNRWA is collaborating with the World Health Organization and local partners to monitor the surge in skin infections and potential disease outbreaks among the affected communities.
