Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that it has opened 130 temporary education centers in Gaza, enabling direct learning for approximately 47,000 children across the Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, this development was highlighted in a statement posted by UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini on his X account. The statement underscores the agency’s efforts in providing direct learning services to children in Gaza, who have endured killing and displacement over nearly 16 months of warfare.
Lazzarini emphasized that UNRWA continues to be the largest provider of emergency learning and psychosocial support services in Gaza. He remarked that education offers hope to the children of Gaza, aiding them in their recovery from the traumas they have experienced.
He further noted the importance of encouraging more children to pursue education, acknowledging the extensive challenges faced in Gaza. Lazzarini stressed the urgency of the situation, with the aim of preventing a lost generation of Palestinian children.
