UAE Intercepts Missile Launched from Iran

Sharjah: The UAE reported that its air defense systems successfully intercepted a missile launched from Iran early Friday. The Emirate of Sharjah made the announcement on the US social media platform X, urging residents to remain in safe locations and follow official updates and warnings.

According to Anadolu Agency, similar incidents occurred in Kuwait, where the military reported that its air defense systems repelled missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks. The Kuwaiti military's statement noted that the explosions heard across the country were the result of interception operations conducted by their air defense systems. In addition, Kuwait's National Guard announced that it had shot down two drones.

The region has been tense following ongoing airstrikes by the US and Israel on Iran since February 28. These airstrikes have resulted in over 1,340 casualties, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These actions have caused casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
