Three GCC States Intercept Missiles and Drones Amid US-Israel Conflict

Kuwait: Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia announced early Friday that they successfully intercepted missile and drone attacks as the US-Israeli conflict with Iran entered its 28th day. Kuwait's military reported that its air defenses engaged with "hostile missile and drone attacks," and clarified that the explosions heard in the skies were due to these interceptions. The Kuwait National Guard confirmed that it shot down two drones over areas it was guarding.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Sharjah Government Media Office in the UAE posted on the US social media platform X that its air defenses responded to a missile threat. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry, as reported by state news agency SPA, stated that it intercepted and destroyed six drones over the Eastern Province in three separate incidents.

The ongoing regional escalation has intensified since the US and Israel commenced a joint military offensive against Iran on February 28. This conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 1,340 individuals, including the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has launched several waves of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries harboring US military assets. These actions have caused casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
