Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Secretariat specifically highlighted the targeting of health facilities, residential areas, and displaced persons tents in Gaza, which has resulted in numerous civilian casualties. These actions are being characterized as blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, there is a significant concern about the continued and escalating colonial settlement activities and organized acts of terrorism by extremist settlers, which occur under the protection of Israeli occupation forces throughout the occupied West Bank, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The Organisation stresses the urgent need for decisive measures to be taken to halt these violations and crimes, and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The General Secretariat further emphasized the necessity for Israel, in its role as the occupying power, to adhere to its obligations under the ceasefire agreement. This includes commencing the second phase of the peace plan in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803. Key actions required under this plan involve opening all crossings, ensuring the unobstructed delivery of aid, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces. The Organisation also reaffirms the unity of Palestinian land and calls for the Government of the State of Palestine to be enabled to assume its responsibilities throughout the occupied territories, including Gaza.
