Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories. The statement highlights the targeting of health facilities, residential areas, and tents for displaced persons in Gaza, which has resulted in numerous civilian casualties. These actions are described as blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the statement also warns of the dangers associated with the continued and escalating colonial settlement activities and organized terrorism by extremist settlers. These activities are reportedly taking place under the protection of Israeli occupation forces throughout the occupied West Bank, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The General Secretariat stresses the urgent need for decisive measures to halt these violations and crimes, as well as to hold the perpetrators accountable.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation emphasizes the necessity for Israel, as the occupying power, to adhere to its obligations under the ceasefire agreement. This includes the commencement of the second phase of the peace plan as per UN Security Council Resolution 2803. Key actions outlined include opening all crossings, ensuring adequate and unobstructed delivery of aid, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces. The statement further affirms the unity of Palestinian land and underscores the importance of enabling the Government of the State of Palestine to assume its responsibilities throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza.
