Signing of Joint Coordination Mechanism to Support Palestinian Cause in Riyadh.

Riyadh: Under the patronage of Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a significant event unfolded on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit in Riyadh on November 11, 2024. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), and Ambassador Nader Fath Al-Alim, representing the African Union (AU) Commission, participated in the signing of a joint coordination mechanism. This initiative aims to bolster support for the Palestinian cause. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this landmark step underscores the collective commitment of the OIC, LAS, and AU to enhance cooperation, coordination, and partnership. The effort aligns with their foundational documents and resolutions concerning Palestine, reflecting shared values of justice, peace, anti-colonial struggle, and opposition to oppression and racial discrim ination. The newly signed mechanism is set to elevate joint efforts across political, legal, humanitarian, media, and cultural dimensions to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people. These people are reportedly enduring brutal aggression, genocide, displacement, and systematic destruction by Israeli occupation forces. Within this framework, the three organizations will strive to synchronize positions and actions in international arenas, facilitate regular exchanges of views, and organize joint events, meetings, and workshops to advance the Palestinian cause. OIC Secretary-General, Hissein Brahim Taha, recognized the Saudi sponsorship of this mechanism, highlighting it as a continuation of Saudi Arabia's significant contributions to supporting the Palestinian cause.
