Shahin Meets Slovak Officials to Address Human Rights in Palestinian Territory

Bratislava: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin engaged in discussions with Robert Dobrovodsky, the Commissioner for Human Rights of Slovakia, focusing on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory. The discussions placed a particular emphasis on the conditions of children in the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the violations faced by the Palestinian people. The meeting was attended by Safaa Khaldi, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Slovakia, and Counsellor Dana Nazzal.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Minister Shahin emphasized the urgent priority of protecting Palestinian children during the meeting. The discussions also explored international mechanisms to bolster human rights protection in Palestine, underlining that adherence to international law is both a moral and legal duty toward the Palestinian people.

In a separate meeting, Minister Shahin conferred with Marian Kery, Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Slovakia. She detailed the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, the obstruction of aid, the ongoing targeting of Palestinians, and the failure to maintain the ceasefire. Shahin also provided an update on developments in the West Bank and Jerusalem, highlighting breaches of international law, settlement policies, and annexation plans.

Kery expressed concern over the human rights violations and reaffirmed Slovakia's support for a two-state solution and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
