GAZA CITY: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has issued a stark warning regarding the obliteration of the health care system in northern Gaza, which poses a severe threat to civilian lives, as residents face the possibility of being deprived of essential medical care.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the ICRC emphasized the urgent need for adherence to international humanitarian law, calling for the protection of medical facilities and personnel. The organization described this protection as both a legal obligation and a moral imperative necessary to safeguard human life amidst ongoing conflict.
The ICRC, alongside the World Health Organization, had previously highlighted the dire health and humanitarian situation in northern Gaza. The region has been severely impacted by continued Israeli military actions, which have disrupted critical services such as rescue and ambulance operations. Furthermore, these actions have impeded the delivery of vital resources, including food, water, and medical supplies, further exacerbating the crisis.
