Prisoners Endure Severe Conditions in Negev Prison, Commission Reports

Negev: Prisoners in Negev prison are facing dire humanitarian and health conditions, as reported by the Detainees and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs Commission.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Commission issued a statement following a lawyer’s visit to several prisoners, highlighting the severe neglect and harassment by the prison administration.

The Commission detailed that the prisoners are suffering from an outbreak of skin diseases due to inadequate hygiene and a lack of cleaning materials. Additionally, the prison administration is reportedly depriving inmates of essential living necessities. The meals provided are described as insufficient and unsuitable for consumption, worsening the prisoners’ daily hardships.

The statement also addressed the impact of cold weather on the prisoners, who are left without adequate winter clothing and warm blankets. Many inmates face sleepless nights due to the chill and intentional neglect. The Commission noted the actions of Israeli repression units, which allegedly involve storming the prisoners’ rooms, assaulting them, and confiscating their belongings as part of an intimidation policy. Medical treatment is reportedly denied despite worsening health conditions.

The Commission’s statement concluded with a call for international and human rights organizations to intervene urgently. They demand accountability from the occupation authorities for the prisoners’ lives and well-being, emphasizing the need to stop these escalating violations.
