Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with British Minister for Development, Women, and Equalities, Anneliese Dodds, at his office in Ramallah, alongside Palestinian Minister for Women’s Affairs, Mona Khalili. The meeting centered on strengthening humanitarian relief efforts and soliciting international backing to end the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian populace.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Prime Minister Mustafa underscored the critical necessity for robust international intervention to cease the aggression in Gaza, which is experiencing dire conditions due to the blockade of major border crossings, impediments to aid entry, and the collapse of vital services such as healthcare, water, sanitation, and electricity.
The Prime Minister conveyed that the Palestinian Government has initiated plans for early recovery and rebuilding efforts, which are set to be intensified in Gaza once hostilities cease. These plans focus on restoring essential services,
delivering emergency relief, consolidating institutions, empowering the private sector, and providing temporary housing, all aimed at comprehensive reconstruction.
Prime Minister Mustafa condemned any attempts of reoccupation, division of Gaza, or creation of buffer zones by the occupation forces, stressing the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2735 to end the aggression and guarantee the immediate and unimpeded delivery of aid to the Palestinian people.
Moreover, Mustafa called on the UK to officially recognize the State of Palestine as a crucial step towards safeguarding the two-state solution, ending the occupation, and realizing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He also expressed appreciation for the UK’s relief and humanitarian support to Gaza, alongside its financial, developmental contributions, and support for institutional reform.
Minister Dodds, on her part, voiced opposition to the restrictions on aid access to Gaza, emphasized the pressing need for a
ceasefire, and highlighted the significance of delivering emergency relief and aid to the people of Gaza. She also denounced Israeli actions and settler violence in the West Bank.
Dodds reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Palestine, including aiding the Palestinian government in executing its institutional reform agenda.
