Davos: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa today engaged in discussions with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Alexander De Croo on enhancing collaborative efforts for reconstruction programs in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, also included Palestine's ambassador to Switzerland and the United Nations in Geneva, Ibrahim Khraishi.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the discussions emphasized strengthening cooperation to deliver essential services in Palestine, focusing on humanitarian and medical supplies amidst the dire conditions in the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Mustafa provided an update on the situation in the West Bank, highlighting the increase in settler attacks, Israeli restrictions, and military checkpoints. He also addressed the financial crisis faced by the Palestinian government due to Israeli policies, particularly the continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues.
The Prime Minister called for the international community, especially UN institutions, to fulfill their responsibilities in supporting the Palestinian people. He emphasized the importance of sustaining basic services and accelerating recovery and reconstruction efforts in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
Both parties agreed on the necessity of coordinating with international partners to ensure timely delivery of humanitarian aid and essential needs to the population in the Gaza Strip. This coordination aims to alleviate suffering and bolster resilience in the region.
