President Abbas Receives Canadian Representative Office Head in Ramallah


Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas held a meeting with Graham Dattels, the Head of the Canadian Representative Office, at the Presidential Palace in Ramallah. President Abbas expressed appreciation for Canada’s support in promoting peace and stability, highlighting its official recognition of the independent State of Palestine.



According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, President Abbas noted that Canada’s recognition of the Palestinian right to self-determination and independence is a significant move toward achieving lasting peace in line with international resolutions. He also acknowledged Canada’s contributions to development and humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people, particularly in supporting institution-building programs, police, security services, and the justice sector.



President Abbas reaffirmed his dedication to fulfilling all reform commitments made by the State of Palestine. He emphasized the significance of enhancing bilateral relations between Palestine and Canada, which would strengthen the bond between their peoples.



Graham Dattels, the Canadian representative, reiterated Canada’s firm stance in supporting peace and providing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. He also underscored Canada’s commitment to bolstering the capabilities of Palestinian security forces and aiding Palestine’s reform efforts.
