Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas received the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, at the presidential headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Wennesland’s visit marked his farewell at the conclusion of his term.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, during the meeting, President Abbas informed the UN envoy about the current situation in the Palestinian territories. He highlighted the Palestinian leadership’s efforts to halt what he described as the genocidal Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. President Abbas urged the United Nations to fulfill its responsibilities by enforcing UN Security Council Resolution No. 2735. This resolution calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, faster entry of aid, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and enabling the State of Palestine to manage its responsibilities fully in the Gaza Strip, as well as in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

bbas also emphasized the importance of reversing the Israeli occupation authorities’ decision to prohibit the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in the occupied territories. He outlined the severe political, legal, and humanitarian consequences of this decision.
