President Abbas and King Abdullah II Discuss Palestinian Developments in Amman


Amman: The President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas met in the capital of Jordan, Amman, with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, in the presence of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, where the President appreciated Jordan’s firm positions in supporting the Palestinian people to remain and stand firm in their land and reject calls for displacement and seizure of any part of the land of the State of Palestine.



According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, President Abbas affirmed the commitment to international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative as a fundamental path to resolving the Palestinian issue. He emphasized the end goal of ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders. President Abbas also expressed a complete rejection of any plans aimed at displacing Palestinians from their homeland, emphasizing the importance of international legitimacy resolutions and international law.



President Abbas further highlighted that the Gaza Strip remains an integral part of the State of Palestine. Plans have been developed to begin providing essential services for the return of residents and prepare for reconstruction with support from international allies. Stressing the priority of consolidating the ceasefire, he emphasized the need for aid, withdrawal of occupation forces, and the assumption of full responsibilities by the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip.



The President called for the international community, especially the United Nations and the Security Council, to compel the occupying state to halt ongoing aggression, settlement expansion, and annexation projects. He reiterated appreciation for the positions of Egypt and Jordan, which support achieving just peace through the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.



King Abdullah II, in turn, stressed the need to stop settlement measures and reject attempts to annex lands and displace Palestinians. He urged the international community to assume a more effective role in halting the escalation in the West Bank and attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem. King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan’s full support for the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate rights, highlighting Jordan’s coordination with regional partners for a comprehensive calm in the region.
