Gaza: The Palestinian Presidency has expressed approval of a joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of 12 countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and others, aimed at protecting the two-state solution and rejecting actions such as colonial settlement expansion, annexation, and the forced displacement of Palestinians. This statement also calls for the prohibition of trade with Israeli colonial settlements.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Presidency acknowledged the resolve of these nations to enforce national restrictions on trade involving goods from Israeli settlements within occupied Palestinian territories. This move is seen as a significant step toward holding the settlement system accountable and reinforcing the non-recognition of the illegal circumstances created by the occupation.
The Presidency has highlighted Israel's recent actions, such as the decision to publish tenders for the E1 colonial plan and other settlement expansions, as blatant violations of international law. It warned that these developments threaten the territorial integrity of Palestinian lands and undermine the potential for an independent Palestinian state.
Furthermore, the Presidency urged the signing countries, the European Union, and the global community to promptly implement binding measures, including sanctions and trade bans with settlements, to hold the Israeli government responsible for its continuous violations.
In addition, the Presidency called on the Israeli government to cease settlement expansions, cancel the E1 plan, halt attacks by extremist settlers, and provide protection for Palestinians. It emphasized the need to stop all actions aimed at annexing Palestinian territories or forcibly displacing its inhabitants.
The Presidency reiterated the State of Palestine's dedication to achieving a fair and enduring peace aligned with international laws and United Nations resolutions. This includes ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel.
