Presidency Rejects Trump’s Proposal to Displace Palestinians

Ramallah: The official spokesman for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, declared that Palestine, encompassing its land, history, and holy sites, is not for sale, nor is it an investment project. The rights of the Palestinian people, he emphasized, are non-negotiable and not open to bargaining.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Abu Rudeineh stressed that the Palestinian people, who have sacrificed greatly in defending their legitimate national rights and maintaining their independent national decisions as represented by the Palestine Liberation Organization, will not relinquish any part of their land. This includes territories in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, which they consider the capital of the State of Palestine.

He further asserted that the Palestinian people and their leaders are determined to prevent a recurrence of the tragedies of 1948 and 1967. They intend to block any plan that aims to undermine their just cause through investment projects that have no place in Palestine or on its land.

The spokesman highlighted the global response to the US administration’s plans to displace Palestinians, noting that the international community stands united on principles of international legitimacy and law, while the US administration appears isolated. He also mentioned opposition from American and Israeli voices, including members of Congress, who deem the proposal impractical.

Abu Rudeineh reiterated that peace, security, and stability are rooted in Palestine, particularly in Jerusalem, with its Islamic and Christian holy sites, rather than imposed by external decisions. He noted that President Mahmoud Abbas, in an official statement, commended the positions of Arab and international countries opposing displacement or annexation. Abbas underscored the necessity of political solutions grounded in international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative to achieve enduring peace and stability in the region.
