Gaza: The Palestinian Presidency on Tuesday issued a strong condemnation of recent field executions carried out by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. These executions have resulted in the deaths of dozens of citizens without legal process or fair trials.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Presidency labeled these acts as heinous crimes, rejecting them under any circumstances. The Presidency emphasized that these actions are a grave violation of human rights and breach the rule of law. The statement also highlighted Hamas's use of force and terror to maintain control, a situation exacerbated by the ongoing hardships faced by the people in Gaza due to war, destruction, and siege.
The Presidency underscored that the law must be the sole point of reference, warning that such practices threaten the unity of the Palestinian people and their social cohesion. The statement argued these actions contradict national and moral values and undermine efforts to unify the institutions of the State of Palestine under a single legitimate authority.
The Presidency called for an immediate cessation of these violations, protection for unarmed citizens, and accountability for those responsible, all within the framework of Palestinian law and judiciary. It reiterated that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine and that restoring the rule of law there is crucial for ending chaos and rebuilding trust based on justice and respect for Palestinian dignity.
Furthermore, the Presidency held Hamas fully accountable for these actions, stating that they harm the Palestinian people's supreme interests. The statement accused Hamas of entrenching its control over Gaza, providing pretexts to the occupation, obstructing reconstruction efforts, deepening division, and hindering the establishment of a free and independent State of Palestine.
