Ramallah: Presidency spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh condemned on Friday the escalating terrorism exercised by Israeli occupation forces and terrorist colonists in the occupied West Bank, most recently the attack in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus, the siege on Palestinian families, and attempts to establish colonial outposts on Palestinian-owned land.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Abu Rudeineh stated that the continued attacks by the occupation forces and colonists constitute war crimes under international laws and conventions. He held the occupation authorities responsible for their consequences as they pursue a policy of escalating tensions and imposing a fait accompli on the ground, aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people.
He further noted that these attacks, along with crimes in the occupied West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, represent a dangerous escalation targeting the Palestinian people, their land, and resources. These actions undermine the prospects for peace and stability and threaten to ignite conflict across the region.
Abu Rudeineh called upon the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities and compel Israel to halt its aggression against the Palestinian people. He urged for an end to colonist attacks, provision of international protection for Palestinians, accountability for perpetrators, and prevention of impunity.
He affirmed that security, stability, and a just and comprehensive peace cannot be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation and realizing the independence of the State of Palestine on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with UN resolutions and international law.
