PRCS Transfers Sick Prisoner from Ofer Prison Amidst Prisoner Exchange

Ramallah: The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced that its crews have recently entered Ofer Prison, located west of the town of Beitunia near Ramallah, to transfer a sick prisoner who was scheduled for release today.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the exchange of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip has commenced. This exchange is part of the first phase of a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, aiming to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip and establish peace in the Middle East. As part of this plan, all living Israeli detainees held in the Gaza Strip will be released in two batches, totaling 20 individuals. Additionally, 28 bodies will be gradually handed over, contingent upon the recovery efforts from the rubble of homes in the war-torn region.

In exchange, the occupation authorities have agreed to release 250 prisoners who are serving long and life sentences from their prisons, along with 1,718 detainees from the Gaza Strip who were detained following the onset of the conflict on October 7, 2023.
