PM Mustafa Calls for Swift Implementation of Resolution 2803 to Empower Palestinian Authority in Gaza

Brussels: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has emphasized the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 as a framework to stabilize Gaza and empower the Palestinian Authority (PA) to fully assume its responsibilities in the region. He highlighted this during his address at the ninth meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, attended by representatives from over 80 countries and international organizations.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mustafa underscored that Gaza is not merely a humanitarian concern but an integral part of the State of Palestine. He called for the acceleration of transitional arrangements to reunify national institutions between Gaza and the West Bank. The Prime Minister expressed readiness to collaborate with the Office of the High Representative - Peace Council and other regional and international parties to ensure compliance with international law in restoring order and essential services in Gaza.

Mustafa announced the creation of a specialized committee within his office to coordinate efforts with the Office of the High Representative, aiming to align international efforts and facilitate the administrative transfer of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority by the end of the transitional phase. He stressed the need for a comprehensive security framework to establish a unified and accountable security structure under legitimate authority, coordinated with international forces.

Further, Mustafa addressed the security and economic challenges in the West Bank, citing Israeli policies that undermine the Palestinian Authority, including violence, expansion of colonies, and attacks by colonial militias. He called for international protection of Palestinian civilians and mechanisms to ensure accountability. The Prime Minister also highlighted the financial crisis exacerbated by withheld tax revenues and banking restrictions, impacting governance and stability.

Focusing on institutional and security reforms, Mustafa emphasized that true security is achieved through strong institutions, not force. He highlighted progress in reforming the rule of law, transparency, and service quality, with over 70% of the reform plan completed. Mustafa praised international partners like the European Union and the United States for supporting these efforts, urging them to contribute towards a comprehensive political strategy for sovereignty.

Finally, Mustafa expressed appreciation to the co-chairs, Saudi Arabia and Norway, and participating countries for advancing the international process initiated in 2024. He also extended solidarity with Arab nations affected by Iranian attacks, condemning any violations of sovereignty and security.
