PM Mustafa Advocates for Two-State Solution in Meeting with UN General Assembly President

Davos: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the necessity of resolving the Palestinian issue through ending the occupation and implementing a two-state solution during his meeting with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock. He highlighted the importance of transitioning from temporary arrangements in the Gaza Strip towards a structured political and economic path that ensures stability, reconstruction, and the unification of Palestinian institutions under one system, law, and legitimate weapon.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the meeting occurred on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, with the attendance of Palestine's ambassador to Switzerland and envoy to the UN in Geneva, Ibrahim Khraishi. PM Mustafa and Baerbock discussed political developments, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the worsening conditions in the West Bank. Mustafa warned of the dangers associated with the ongoing withholding of Palestinian tax revenues by the occupation, highlighting its detrimental impact on the economy and the government's ability to fulfill its responsibilities to the Palestinian people.

The Prime Minister called for urgent action from the United Nations to safeguard Palestinian rights and bolster the resilience of national institutions. He also advocated for strengthening the role of UN institutions in the forthcoming phase. Baerbock, in response, emphasized the significance of enhancing cooperation between UN institutions and the State of Palestine, protecting UNRWA, and increasing international efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and implement relevant UN resolutions concerning the Palestinian cause.
