Palestinian Vice President and Grand Mufti Discuss Al-Aqsa Developments Amid Rising Tensions

Jerusalem: Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh met on Sunday with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, to discuss the latest developments in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The meeting comes in the context of escalating Israeli occupation measures targeting holy sites and religious figures.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Sheikh emphasized the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and maintain its religious, historical, and legal status. He urged confronting the occupation's measures in Jerusalem, asserting that these actions do not alter the integral status of Jerusalem and its holy sites as part of the State of Palestine.

The Sheikh condemned the occupation government's use of regional wars and tensions to attempt to alter the situation in Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa Mosque. He warned of the potential dangers these policies pose to regional security and stability. Additionally, he commended the Palestinian Dar al-Ifta institution for its role in promoting religious awareness and maintaining social security and civil peace.

The Grand Mufti provided the Vice President with updates on the situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the practices occurring in Jerusalem that target the mosque and its visitors. He highlighted the necessity of continuing efforts at all levels to protect the mosque and resist attempts to impose a new reality in the city.
