Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate Warns of Israeli Actions Against Media

Baku:The Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate has issued a warning about what it describes as a wide-scale war by Israeli forces against Palestinian journalists across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The syndicate claims this effort seeks to silence media coverage of actions by Israeli forces and settlers, extending what they term as a media genocide occurring in the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the syndicate's statement emphasizes that Palestinian journalists, who they describe as witnesses to the truth, are risking their lives and freedom to disseminate information globally. The syndicate accuses Israeli forces of attempting to suppress this information to hide alleged crimes.

The warning includes concerns about the possibility of the systematic targeting seen in the Gaza Strip spreading to the West Bank and East Jerusalem, especially as attacks against media personnel by armed settlers increase. The syndicate refers to the situation in Gaza as an unprecedented 'media genocide,' citing the deaths of 260 journalists, the detention of over 240, with 38 still imprisoned under poor conditions, and the destruction of over 150 media outlets.

The syndicate urges the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to recognize and address the risks posed by these actions. It calls for protection for journalists and accountability for Israeli leaders and settlers to prevent further impunity.

As the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists approaches, the syndicate appeals for swift international intervention to protect journalists and ensure justice against these violations.
