Ramallah: Palestinian detainees at Israel’s Nafha and Rimon Prisons are reportedly enduring severe conditions as a result of intensified repressive measures by the prison administration.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) has reported that the administration of Ganot Prison, formerly known as Nafha and Rimon prisons, has been assaulting detainees and tightly shackling them with the use of Yamaz units.
The PPS has stated that the prison service has been deploying sound bombs inside one of the sections, marking this incident as one of hundreds of raids against detainees, which have notably increased since the onset of Israeli aggression on the Strip. The administration’s tactics also include the use of sound bombs, rubber bullets, and police dogs during these raids.
Furthermore, the PPS highlighted that the use of handcuffs remains one of the primary methods employed by the Israeli occupation regime to mistreat and torture detainees. Testimonies from detainees reveal that the use of handcuffs has been a common form of abuse during detentions, affecting all detainee categories, including children, women, the sick, and the wounded, as well as those with disabilities.
Additional testimonies indicate that some detainees experienced being handcuffed for several days before their transfer to interrogation centers or jails, further exacerbating the harsh conditions under which they are held.
