Ramallah: The State of Palestine expressed approval of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. This development comes six months after ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan initially requested the warrants.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Palestinian authorities emphasized that the ICC’s decision is a significant step in restoring faith in international law and United Nations institutions. They highlighted the importance of justice, accountability, and the prosecution of war criminals, pointing out that Palestinians continue to face genocide and war crimes, including the use of starvation as a method of warfare and other crimes against humanity such as killing, oppression, and displacement.
The State of Palestine urged all ICC and UN Member States to act upon the court’s decision by prosecuting the accused individuals in their respective courts. Additionally, they stress
ed the necessity of suspending communication and meetings with both Netanyahu and Gallant. The Palestinian authorities reaffirmed their commitment to working with international justice institutions to ensure that all individuals responsible for crimes against the Palestinian people are held accountable, aiming to secure justice and fairness for Palestinians.
