Nablus: Israeli occupation forces have carried out a widespread campaign of arrests and field interrogations targeting at least 60 Palestinians in the West Bank from Sunday evening until Monday morning. The detainees included two women, a journalist, and former prisoners, some of whom were released under ceasefire agreements.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) stated in a press release on Monday that these arrests and field interrogations followed an Israeli announcement of intensified arrest campaigns in the West Bank, coinciding with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. The operations were particularly concentrated in several governorates, with Nablus being a significant focus.
The PPS noted that most of the arrested individuals underwent field interrogation before being released. The organization added that the Israeli occupation has been escalating its arrest and interrogation operations at an increasing rate since the beginning of the year. This is part of a policy that targets various segments of Palestinian society under the guise of collective punishment.
Furthermore, the PPS reported that the standard practice during these raids includes forcing families to leave their homes, along with acts of terror, vandalism, and property destruction before arrests or detentions occur. The PPS highlighted that such repressive policies have become common across various governorates.
The organization affirmed that these actions are extensions of the occupation's long-standing strategy to target the Palestinian presence. The only change noted since the start of what is described as a war of extermination is the increased level and intensity of crimes against detainees.
It is important to note that the occupation authorities continue to conduct daily arrest campaigns. Since the start of the described war of extermination, the number of arrests in the West Bank has reached approximately 22,000.
