OIC Condemns Israeli Aggression against Qalandia Refugee Camp and Warns of Liquidation Attempts

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the actions of the Israeli occupation forces in the Qalandia Palestinian refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem. These actions include military aggression, siege, raids, arrests, destruction of infrastructure and property, and the forced displacement of residents. The condemnation arises amidst warnings about the potential expansion of the military campaign to other refugee camps across the occupied West Bank. The OIC views these actions as a clear violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.

According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the General Secretariat expressed concern over the severity of this escalation, which it sees as part of systematic Israeli plans to dismantle and destroy Palestinian refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, devastate the Gaza Strip, and target the presence, mandate, facilities, and personnel of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The OIC emphasized that these actions represent broader attempts to undermine the Palestinian refugee cause and its legal, political, and humanitarian underpinnings.

The General Secretariat has reiterated its call to the international community to take immediate action to pressure the Israeli occupation to cease its aggression and siege against Qalandia refugee camp and all Palestinian refugee camps in the occupied West Bank. It also urged continued support for UNRWA and the protection of Palestinian refugees' rights, including their right of return, in line with relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly UN General Assembly Resolution 194.
