Gaza: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) praised the State of Palestine's progress in implementing institutional, administrative, and financial reforms despite challenges in the occupied Palestinian territory amid escalating Israeli policies and attacks.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs, Ambassador Samir Bakr, highlighted the importance of strengthening the Palestinian Authority both institutionally and financially. This move is seen as essential to preserving and implementing the two-state solution, as stated during a meeting in Brussels attended by Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, European Commissioner Dubravka … uica, and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.
The OIC called for the immediate and unconditional release of all Palestinian tax revenues withheld by Israel. The organization warned that the Palestinian Authority is facing a severe financial crisis, threatening its ability to meet its obligations and provide essential public services, including healthcare, education, and social welfare.
In addition, the OIC urged international partners and donors to provide urgent financial support to the State of Palestine. The organization warned against the continued withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues and reiterated its condemnation of Israel's systematic targeting of UNRWA, as well as Israeli settlement expansion, annexation, forced displacement, and the blockade.
The OIC further called on the international community to increase pressure on Israel to implement the second phase of the peace plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803. This includes a full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the opening of border crossings, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid. The organization reaffirmed the legal, political, and institutional unity of the Palestinian people and territory under the leadership of the Government of the State of Palestine.
