Cairo: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in collaboration with the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), is set to hold an international conference on Jerusalem titled "Jerusalem: The Frontline of Displacement and Annexation and the Key to Achieving a Just and Lasting Peace." The event is scheduled for Saturday, 18 July 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the conference will feature participation from officials, diplomats, religious leaders, experts, and representatives from international and regional organizations. Additionally, a select group of academics and researchers will attend to discuss the significant issues at hand.
The primary objective of the conference is to shed light on Israeli policies concerning the forced displacement and dispossession of Palestinians in Jerusalem. It will address the escalating Judaization within the city, set against the backdrop of ongoing policies and practices across the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The discussions are particularly pertinent given the continuous conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in widespread attacks and large-scale forced displacement of Palestinian civilians.
The conference will also evaluate the support extended by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. This support is crucial for the adoption of international measures aimed at relaunching the Middle East peace process. The goal is to establish a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace, ensuring the creation of an independent State of Palestine based on the borders set on 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
