OCHA Reports Massive Destruction in Gaza Due to Israeli Aggression

Gaza City: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Monday that 92% of homes in the Gaza Strip, or about 436,000 homes, were destroyed or damaged as a result of the Israeli aggression, while 90% of Palestinian civilians were displaced from their homes. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the WHO Representative in Palestine, Rick Peeperkorn, stated that the ceasefire announcement is a source of hope, but the challenge ahead is daunting. He emphasized that addressing the needs and restoring the health system will be a complex and difficult task, given the scale and complexity of the operations and the constraints involved. The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into effect yesterday at 11:15 am, after being delayed for more than two and a half hours due to the occupation authorities' announcement that it would not be implemented before receiving the list of female prisoners scheduled for release. Since October 7, 2023, the occupation forces ha ve launched an aggression on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of at least 46,913 Palestinians, including 17,581 children and about 12,048 women, and the injury of more than 110,750 others. Approximately 11,000 individuals remain missing under the rubble and in the streets.
