Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces demolished a house in the town of Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem, on Monday. The demolition was carried out by bulldozers belonging to the Israeli municipality, targeting a house owned by the Abu Mayaleh family.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that the demolition was part of a larger wave of actions by the occupation authorities, who had previously issued demolition orders for five houses in the area north of Jerusalem. One of these houses, located near the Jaba' military checkpoint, was given a 24-hour notice for evacuation before its demolition. The owner had already received a demolition order and had appealed the decision in Israeli courts.
In addition to the house in Beit Hanina, evacuation orders were issued for four other houses in the Coptic Quarter of al-Ram, with a two-day notice for evacuation before demolition. These actions are part of a systematic effort by the occupation authorities, as highlighted by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
The commission reported that in August alone, Israeli occupation authorities executed 71 demolitions, affecting 155 structures. These included 47 inhabited homes, eight uninhabited homes, 33 livelihood facilities, 61 agricultural structures, and six other structures. Additionally, 44 demolition orders were issued targeting Palestinian properties and structures.
The impact of these demolitions has been significant, directly affecting at least 200 Palestinians, including 75 children and 56 women.
